Antique amboyna desk and bookcase.
A rare Chinese-made desk made in amboyna wood with a fitted bookcase above; the centre drawer with a writing slope on a ratchet, the right hand drawer with a movable pen box.
All the lower drawers lock with a clever mechanism accessed from the kneehole. The shaped cornice is also in amboyna and the original hairy paw feet and the drawer knobs are in ebony; Chinese characters under some of the drawers.
