About the object

This super example of a late 18thc Prattware tea-caddy depicts a gentleman in an exaggeratedly high wig with his servant standing beside him , on the other side is a similarly caricatured lady and her servant.....these figures are called Macaroni figures, derived from some contemporary cartoon satirising the exaggerated hair styles of the time....it is painted in the pratt colours of blue, orange, green and black.

A rare feature of this caddy is that it still has its original lid, although damaged slightly, you hardly ever find these tea-caddies with their original lids...

The tea-caddy is in excellent condition, but the lid has some minor damage....see pictures.
