A very good quality late 18th century mahogany and brass bound plate bucket having original
pivoting brass handle.
This bucket would originally have been made to stand in the dining room and house a pile of plates, hence hole cut out of one side, so as to allow a hand to be placed under the plates and lift them out.
The brass bound decoration serves two purposes, one of course for decoration, but secondly and just as importantly they are holding together the pieces of mahogany which form the bucket.
