Northern India. Circa 1900
The skilfully carved and well defined camel stands on a carved octagonal base and supports a carved table top attached to a saddle and rug on its hump. The octagonal table top has a plain central section bordered by a wide profusely carved floral and foliate band with a gadrooned edge leading to a carved and shaped frieze.
The overall carving is exceptionally realistic and the table is in excellent condition.
The head and neck are cleverly attached to the body by a well concealed brass locking mechanism to allow for safe transportation.
