Ancient Egyptian Glass Eyes.
Third Intermediate Period To Late Period.
Dynasty XXI - XXX.
1070 - 243 B.C.E.
The blue glass eye rims are shown with extending cosmetic lines from the outer corners; the eyes themselves have white gesso sclera inlaid with irises of blue glass.
Eyes such as these would have been set into the painted wooden coffin containing the mummy. This was found inside the outer stone sarcophagus.
