A PAINTED PLASTER ANATOMICAL FIGURE OF ECORCHE STAMPED BRUCCIANI AND CO. LONDON.

Second half of the 19th century.

Brucciani and Co were the leading makers of plaster reductions of celebrated sculptures for museums  in the second half of the 19th centry.

L’Ecorche Combattant was created by French sculptor Jacques-Eugene Cauldron 1818-1865.  Antoine Louis-Julien Fau, a doctor, asked Cauldron to sculpt this anatomical figure for his book on human anatomy for artists’reference , first published in 1845.
