Rare 19th-century Persian Jaf Kurdish Rug.
Antique Persian Kurdish rug made by a member of the Jaf tribe in the third quarter of the 19th century. Jafs are renowned for their bags, often with the same diamond design, but rugs of this provenance are much rarer. As with a lot of the bags, this rug has a white diamond standing out among the otherwise blue and red elements.
Wool on a wool foundation, with some corrosion in the black. The bottom guard stripe is rewoven, otherwise the rug is in excellent condition.
£3,600.
