19th Century Mahogany Cased Two-Day Marine Chronometer by Widenham, London.

A fine two-day marine chronometer by Wideham of London. The original 3-tier mahogany case of good color retains the Prize Award label of the maker Richard Widenham, Lombard Street, London, within the top lid (see detail image). 

The top quality precision movement with spring-detent escapement is retained within brass gimbals and has a fully signed and numbered silvered dial with gold hands. 

* Richard Widenham is recorded working from 1835 at 13,Lombard Street, London. His firm supplied the British Royal Navy with chronometers and received awards on several occasions for the precision of his timekeepers.
