This object is eligible for a Certificate of BADA Provenance

A fine cloisonne tachi, enamelled overall, including engraved mounts and large enamelled suba.

These swords were usually given to Europeans in the late 19th Century as a gift - in what the Japanese considered to be the European taste, as opposed to their own style (which would have been less decorative).

The blade is unsigned and of average quality, as per usual for this style of tachi.
