19th century Italian carved bed.
The headboard is surmounted with a carved cresting and turned finials at each end, and the frame painted with scrollwork. The centre of the headboard has a cartouche containing a painting of a coat of arms, surrounded by profuse, stylised, acanthus leaf carving.
The footboard has turned finials at each end and a frame painted with scrollwork. The footboard has a central cartouche containing a painted coat of arms on both sides, also surrounded by ornate acanthus leaf carving.
I am currently researching the arms. Standing on bun feet. Painted in green and red and gilded.
Italian, circa 1800-1875.
