19th Century English Burgundy Leather Ottoman.
Serpentine-shaped ottoman, mid-19th century, English, Victorian, with mahogany skirt and feet and upholstered in burgundy leather
This handsome ottoman is really practical offering both seating and storage space. It is traditionally upholstered with tufts and in good usable condition. It is an unusual serpentine shape and this together with the mahogany base and the bun feet give it gravitas and elevate it above a standard ottoman. In addition to storage it could also be used for excess seating.
Serpentine shape upholstered in burgundy leather. The top with thirty tufts opening to reveal an interior upholstered in a floral cotton chintz. The front and sides faced with close nailed brass studs. The base with a mahogany skirt on mahogany bun feet.
England, circa 1830-1880.
