A fine late 19th Century Chinese padouk wood stand / table with inset marble top circa 1880.
The serpentine edged square top divided by four inset marble panels above a pierced shaped frieze with carved scroll work below joining the four faux bamboo shaped supports terminating on a splay foot. The centre having two stepped undertiers joined by faux bamboo supports united by a lower stretcher.
The proportions and carvings of this table are superb with the padouk timber being of excellent quality whilst retaining a wonderful colour. The detail is a pleasure to see as the craftsmen has allowed carving below the frieze to flow from the leg to give the appearance on a growing and flowering bamboo plant.
Offered in excellent condition having been restored using traditional methods this well-constructed table boasts a wonderful rich colour.
Having a hard wearing top this table can be used in a variety of places throughout the home.
A very good quality table and delightful model.
