A 19th century appliqué and embroidered picture, circa 1860-80.
Depicting a loose spray of flowers, buds and foliage attended by bees and butterflies, worked in a variety of stitches in coloured silk threads with applied textile fragments, on a ground of exquisite early 18th century chestnut coloured silk velvet, framed and glazed. Overall framed dimensions height 42.5cm/16.75in, width 42cm/16.5in, depth 2.8cm/1.1in.
