High carat gold, diamond set, Maltese cross, the centre inscribed with the AEA monogram of Alfred Ernest Albert, Duke of Edinburgh (1844-1900) in gold and enamels, over regimental title scroll in yellow gold and navy enamel, the whole surmounted by the coronet of a prince of the blood, in white gold set with enamel, rubies, emeralds and diamonds. The reverse with detachable pin fitting and pendant loop.
