18th Century Silver Gilt Painted Side Chair.

Description / Expertise:

A fine, carved, silver-gilt & painted,18th century, side chair with original floral, silk Brocatelle.
Feminine, sidechair in rare, original condition with original textile bringing softness and the delicacy of the flower garden into the interior.
Period chairs of this quality and type rarely come onto the open market and sadly not in sets.
The floral sprays of pink, blue and yellow roses on the back of the splat and the cabriole section of the legs are finely painted bringing the vitality and colour of the garden into the interior.
The silk brocatelle with finely worked silver-gilt and silk embroidered floral sprays in tones of pink, blue and green.
The silver-gilt ground with fluid, stylised acanthus leaf carving.
The inside seat inscribed ‘VI’.
