An 18th century portrait miniature of a Lady painted on ivory
Horace Hone A.R.A (1754-1825)
Hone moved from London to Dublin in 1782 when he amassed a large and distinguished clientele. In 1801 and 1802 he exhibited several miniatures at the Parliament house.
After the Union however, he was forced to return to London where he lived in Dover Street. Whilst he was in Ireland he exhibited once at the Royal Academy in 1795, the year in which he was appointed miniature painter to the Prince of Wales.
Once back in London he regularly exhibited there.
Signed with initials on the obverse and dated 1788
