The domed lid decorated with two rows of brass studs. The iron hasp marked 'IL', original iron lockplate, lock removed.

The interior lined with pages from 'Philosphical Dissertations on the Egyptians & Chinese' overpainted in watercolour with circular motifs.

The lid held in place with original braid. The front decorated with a row of brass studs. The sides with original brass swan neck carrying handles bearing traces of original gilding.
