18th Century Mahogany Bow Corner Cupboard.

A Very Good Quality, Late 18th Century, George III Period Mahogany Bowfronted Hanging Corner Cupboard, Having Attractive Conch Shell Inlaid Decoration To Cornice, Over Pair Of Superbly Figured Panelled Doors, Enclosing Three Fixed Shelves.

Corner cupboards, particularly hanging ones, are of course a great solution to a room which is lacking storage and already has full walls. This is of course due to the fact they can be mounted in the corner and add a large amount more functional storage to a space which wouldn’t be in use otherwise. They also of course add real elegance and a slightly different dimension.

This is a nice georgian 18th century corner cupboard which retains a lovely rich colour and patina. It is constructed from lovely, well figured, rich mahogany timbers which have been very carefully selected and positioned into the elegant panelled door design. There is also some unusual and particularly decorative conch shells inlaid to the top.

Overall the condition is very good with just a few minor, historic old marks and scratches as one would expect to find on an item of this age. These have now blended in with the overall patina of the piece of course and therefore there is no significant defects of any kind worthy of special mention.

As with all items which we offer for sale this piece has been inspected and attended to in our workshops by our highly skilled, trained specialist antique furniture restorers and received a natural wax polish before being offered for sale to ensure it is in its best possible condition before being offered for sale.

Circa 1790.

Height 47in.
Width 30.5in. (This measurement is across the front of the cupboard)
Depth 21.5in. (This measurement is how far along a wall from the corner the cupboard would protrude)
