A fine example of Georgian cabinet making. The mahogany octagonal planter is constructed in two parts. The upper section which has a later brass liner, has rectangular shaped moulded panels with concave corners. This rests on the base of four cabriole legs each having finely carved knees. The circular pad feet are raised on barrel shaped castors.
The whole retains a wonderful colour and patination.
English, circa 1770
