A fine quality 18th century French Hepplewhite Cylinder Bureau Desk. English, George III, circa 1780.

A most elegant beautifully crafted bombe shaped bureau, veneered in its entirety with exotic West Indian veneers including satinwood, rosewood & tulipwood to an outstanding geometric design.

The top with a single shallow drawer over a cylinder desk, the front rising to reveal a leathered writing surface and a central arrangement of cubbyholes for paper, letters etc.

Flanked on each side by four short graduated drawers, one fitted for ink bottles; and over a shaped long drawer and two shaped short drawers flanking the kneehole.

The whole raised on shaped cabriole legs.
