18th Century Carved Chinese Chippendale Giltwood Mirror.

A George II 18th period Chippendale chinoiserie mirror of diminutive proportions.

Rare carved giltwood mirror of excellent quality and form. The acanthus leaf carved canopy in the form a pagoda roof surmounted on 'C' scrolls above a later replaced waterfall on a rocky outcrop and flanked with a carved open fret swan neck pediment.

The frame is intricately carved through out with 'C' scrolls to the shoulders entwined with carved flower and leaf trellis work. The lower crest with a central flower with emanating leaf scrolls bordered elongated scrolls stiff leaf carvings and oversized 'C' scrolls to the lower apron.

The taste and form is very much the Chinese Chippendale Chinoiserie style of the day and the frame surrounds the original 18th century mirror plate.
