With a superb two inch thick top (which fortunately is removeable) this lovely beech wood refectory table has trestle supports joined by a central stretcher and is very practical to sit at. With excellent rich colour and patination, it is typical of the type of table produced in the region of Bagneres-de-Bigorre in the Pyrenees. See Sothebys "Haute Epoque" auction 31st October 2006 lot 218 for a similar, but considerably smaller, example which fetched £9000.
