English pioneer's sword and scabbard.

The single-edged steel blade with a pointed tip and the back edge formed with prominent saw teeth.

The hilt of cast brass, with a ribbed grip and the leather scabbard with a brass locket and chape.

Issued to the Pioneer (or Engineer) soldiers attached to artillery brigades, the sawback edge allowed the blade to be used as a tool as well as a weapon.
