 A RARE MID 16TH CENTURY ENGLISH OAK BOX SEATED LINENFOLD CAQUETEUSE TYPE ARMCHAIR. CIRCA 1570.


THIS FINE CHAIR HAS A HIGH BACK WITH TWO DEEPLY CARVED LINENFOLD PANELS ABOVE A PAIR OF ARMS TERMINATING IN LION HEAD ENDS, THE ARM SUPPORTS CARVED WITH TREFOILS. THE BOX SEATED BASE AGAIN WITH LINEFOLD CARVED PANELS, THE SEAT WITH VERY OLD REPLACEMENT HINGES, MOST PROBABLY ORIGINALLY IT WOULD OF HAD A LOOSE LIFT OFF SEAT. THIS SUBSTANTIAL LINENFOLD CHAIR HAS GREAT COLOUR AND PRESENCE.
