A WONDERFUL LATE 15TH CENTURY NORMAN WALNUT SCULPTURE OF ST ANTHONY. CIRCA 1500.
THIS CHARMING MEDIEVAL SCULPTURE DEPICTS ST ANTHONY IN A HOODED TUNIC WITH A WONDERFUL FORKED BEARD, IN HIS RIGHT HAND HE HOLDS A BELL AND HIS LEFT HE HOLDS A ROSARY. A PIG STANDS BY HIS RIGHT SIDE, HE WAS KNOWN TO BE THE PROTECTOR OF ANIMALS SUCH AS CATTLE, SHEEP AND OTHER LIVESTOCK.
