A 15th century carved oak figure of a pilgrim, possibly St James The Greater, circa 1450-1500.
Carved in the round with great movement, with moustache, beard and curled locks beneath a wide brimmed hat, he wears a voluminous mantle and appears to be striding forth, traces of polychrome, mounted on a plinth covered with 17th century linen, overall height including plinth 76.5cm.
