The planned Petworth Park Antiques & Fine Art Fair, due to open for three days in the middle of May, is now taking the digital route.
An online virtual fair is opening on Friday 15 May with an extended run until Sunday 31 May, allowing international collectors, designers and interested members of the public to sit in their ‘lockdown’ homes and enjoy all that is on offer.
Sales can begin on 15 May, when The Virtual Petworth Park Antiques & Fine Art Fair opens, as as originally scheduled.
This extra two weeks (the fair would normally have closed on Sunday 17 May) gives exhibitors the best chance of doing business at this difficult time.
There is a diverse range of antiques and fine art for sale, as well as links relating to the event and Petworth House.
There are over 60 dealers taking part in the virtual fair. Each exhibitor has their own entry showcasing highlighted stock alongside a link to the dealer’s website for visitors to peruse at their leisure and contact the dealer direct.
Organiser Ingrid Nilson of The Antiques Dealers Fair Limited said, “This foray into the world of virtual fairs is proving to be an exciting and safe alternative that offers new ways of engaging with and shopping for art and antiques, accessible the world over. Many people are celebrating birthdays, anniversaries and have lost holiday plans, so the dealers are offering alternative treats to perk up lockdown.”
“We are still hoping that The Petworth Park Antiques & Fine Art Fair can open to the public in the grounds of Petworth House in Petworth, West Sussex with the revised date of Friday 11 to Sunday 13 September 2020, when everyone can also visit the National Trust property and the market town of Petworth itself.”
“In the meantime, we hope that people enjoy the virtual journey while staying safe in the comfort of their own homes.”
