An introduction to Wartski (founded in 1865) and its range of objects, from works of art by Imperial jeweller Carl Fabergé, antique jewellery (gem-set, artistic, enamelled and chased gold), and objets d’art.
The various sources of inspiration revealed in these works, from the Archaeological, Medieval and the Renaissance to Egypt, the Orient, and botanical motifs, will be discussed.
So too will the range of techniques and materials employed, especially demonstrated in a fine collection of cameos and intaglios ranging from the Classical era to the 19th century which exemplify the art of gem-engraving.
