A small exhibition of works of fishing related folk art, centred around a unique collection of early 20th century hand drawn naive silhouettes of trophy fish, caught with a fly on fabled English chalk streams.

Each of the drawings are individually inscribed in pen and ink, with details of the fish, the date and location of their capture and the fly they fell to, some even include depictions of the fly.

There is something engagingly individual and unselfconsciously naive about this group of works on paper, which were originally pinned to the walls of a fishing lodge or rod room.

Tiddlers and WhoppersThis recently discovered cache of drawings has been preserved and framed “as found” and will be hung together with a small group of carved trophy fish, ice fishing decoys and other related works. This is a uniquely individual collection which highlights the raw spirit of folk art.

Personal, evocative and inspiringly simple.
