BADA member Witney Antiques is pleased to announce their annual exhibition and accompanying publication, part two of their series, '"Choice and Precious Work": Treasures from the Schoolroom'. Building on last year's exhibition and accompanying catalogue centred on the needlework suite of London Quaker Elizabeth Hall and contemporary schoolgirl embroidery circa 1650-1750, this year's exhibition and publication will put early modern schoolgirl needlework into conversation with other art forms worked at female academies, such as beadwork and the decorative cutting of paper.
This year's exhibition will take place from Monday. 21 October 2024 to Saturday, 23 November 2024. Accompanying the exhibition will be a 240-page book with extensive essays, catalogue entries of all objects in the exhibition, and full colour illustrations of those objects, as well as pieces from the Witney Antiques archive and museum collections in the United Kingdom and United States. This book will be available to be shipped anywhere in the world and will cost £75 plus shipping.
