About
Jorge Welsh Works of Art
Jorge Welsh Works of Art was founded by Jorge Welsh and Luísa Vinhais. The gallery's expertise is in Chinese porcelain – with an emphasis on export porcelain – and cross-cultural works of art from Africa, India, China and Japan ranging from the 15th to the 19th century.
With galleries in London and Lisbon, Jorge Welsh Works of Art also participates in some of the most reputed art fairs and events such as TEFAF Maastricht, Fine Art Asia Fair in Hong Kong, and Asian Art in London.
We are dedicated to sourcing high-quality works of art for museums and private collections worldwide, regularly consulting, curating or lending our own pieces for temporary exhibitions.
Since 1999, the gallery's editorial department, Jorge Welsh Research & Publishing, has published over 40 scholarly catalogues and books, including editions in English, Portuguese, Spanish and Chinese, some of which, have also become reference works in their particular field.
Highlights include 'Chinese Armorial Porcelain for Spain' by Rocío Diaz, 'Tankards and Mugs' by Rose Kerr and Maria Antónia Pinto de Matos, the set of volumes on 'The RA Collection of Chinese Ceramics', by Maria Antónia Pinto de Matos, as well as catalogues such as 'Zhangzhou Export Ceramics', 'After the Barbarians' and 'Kinrande: Porcelain dressed in Gold'.
