About

Bagshawe Fine Art

Founded by Nicholas Bagshawe in 1979, and joined by the art historian Dr Kendall (Smaling Wood) Bagshawe in 2006, Bagshawe Fine Art trades principally in British painting and sculpture of the eighteenth, nineteenth and early-twentieth centuries.

The firm specializes in the presentation of works of art-historical significance destined for museums and important private collections, but also offers a diverse range of paintings by lesser-known artists that evoke various aspects of British history and culture. Individual pictures may be viewed by appointment in our gallery in London's Belgravia, opening in Summer 2021.

Stock

Pictures are predominantly British and range in date from the seventeenth century through to the first half of the twentieth century, and fall across a wide price spectrum.

Areas of specialization include eighteenth and nineteenth century portraiture, Pre-Raphaelite and sporting art.

Additional Services

In addition to buying and selling works of art, Bagshawe Fine Art offers a full complement of services.

These include valuations, conservation and restoration, framing, and primary research towards authentication, or re-attribution of authorship, as well as the identification of portrait sitters. Art-historical research is a cornerstone of the business.
