Based on the edge of fashionable Burnham Market, Burnham Westgate was originally built by the architect of nearby Holkham Hall, Matthew Brettingham.

Around 1783 Thomas Pitt, 1st Baron Camelford, asked the eminent architect Sir John Soane to re-design parts of the house based in this beautiful part of Norfolk.

I am delighted that our President, Baroness Rawlings has kindly agreed to host this private visit for the Friends.

After the tour we will have lunch at the Hoste Arms which is in walking distance of the house.

The Hoste Arms is a delightful hotel and worth staying at if you wish for a short break near to the stunning Norfolk coast: www.thehoste.com.
