What is the BADA Trust?

The British Antique Dealers' Association Cultural and Educational Trust is a registered charity. The aims of The Friends are to allow interested members of the public to participate in and expand the work of the Trust. This includes sponsorship of full time restoration and conservation courses at West Dean College, travel awards and fees for students and publications for national cultural institutions. It also assists in the purchase of items for museums.

The Friends was formed in 1991 to encourage members of the public to be more aware of the work dealers do and the cultural and educational activities they undertake, and to help Friends tap the resources of knowledge and experience by personal acquaintance with the dealers. We are not in competition with any other Friends organisations. All our activities are designed to increase Friends' knowledge and appreciation of antiques and, at the same time, put at your disposal the combined knowledge of members of The British Antique Dealers' Association.

Some recent events have included

• A private visit to Downing Street
• An evening reception at Peacock House
• A private visit to Highgrove
• A series of masterclasses on subjects ranging from the horse in bronze to early 19th-century British landscape painting
• A private reception at The Foundling Museum
