The Winter Art & Antiques Fair opened at Olympia on Monday 31 October with over 40 leading BADA members exhibiting at the seven-day show. With so many notable dealers and exceptional items on display, competition was understandably strong for the coveted BADA Best Stand awards.

After lengthy consideration, our judges reached a consensus and we are delighted to announce that three prizes were awarded to members in the following categories: BADA Best Stand, BADA Best stand using display cabinets, and BADA Best stand displaying pictures or textiles.

The winner of the BADA award for Best Stand is 16th, 17th & 18th century oak furniture specialist Peter Bunting (Stand B1), who has been a member of the association since 1994.

The judges were particularly impressed by the stand’s strong evocation of an historical period and the care taken with the placement of each object, together with the subtle lighting choices, which combined to attract visitors and encourage further exploration.

The BADA prize for Best Stand using display cabinets goes to British Art pottery and contemporary ceramics specialists Signed and Designed (Stand G29).  A BADA member since 2008, Alison Davey opted to divide her stand in half, showcasing contemporary objects on one side and 20th century ceramics in the other.

The judges felt the Signed and Designed stand utilised a large number of glass cabinets to arrange their distinctive ceramics in an uncluttered style, positioning objects carefully to create a sense of harmony and approachability.

The winner of the Best Stand Displaying Pictures or Textiles award is The Parker Gallery (Stand A5), run by Archie Parker, who became a BADA member in 2016. Our judges described the presentation of The Parker Gallery’s traditional paintings and watercolours as “simple elegance”.

Their carefully-chosen portraits, landscapes and sporting pictures have been given what could be termed a “drawing room hang”, enabling visitors to readily envisage how such a group of pictures would look in their own home.

The Winter Art & Antiques Fair is open until Sunday 6 November, for more information visit
