A welcome return for Witney Antiques annual exhibition

After a one-year hiatus, Witney Antiques annual exhibition of fine needlework returns for its 25th year on Monday 27 June at 100 Corn Street, Witney, Oxfordshire.

Over the intervening two years Joy, Rebecca and Stephen have been able to acquire, from private collections, examples worked under the direction or influence of some of the major centres of needlework, including the Bristol, Norwich and Quaker schools.

This year’s exhibition, fittingly entitled ‘Now while my hands are thus employed – Three centuries of historic samplers’, brings together some of the most exceptional work from the 17th, 18th and 19th centuries to come on to the market for many years.

The pieces have each been selected for their exceptional decorative quality, and have been worked by embroiderers of high artistic ability and technical skill.

The exhibition runs until Sunday 17 July and entrance is free. There will also be a complete colour catalogue with images of the exhibits displayed.
