BADA members Bernard Quaritch Ltd will be exhibiting a collection of highlights from the library of pioneering psychoanalyst Ernest Jones at Sotheby’s New York, during NYC Rare Book Week April 6-9.

A close friend and official biographer of Sigmund Freud, Ernest Jones founded the British Psychoanalytical Society and helped many psychoanalysts (including Freud himself) escape from Nazi-occupied territories.

Among the works exhibited will be Jones’ set of the first five editions of Die Traumdeutung (1899-1919), Freud’s Studien zur Psychoanalyse der Neurosen, inscribed by Freud on his 70th birthday and Anna Freud’s seminal Einfuhrung in die Psychoanalyse fur Padagogen, inscribed to Jones.

Quaritch will also be exhibiting at the New York Antiquarian Book Fair April 7-10, Booth B7 at Park Avenue Armory
