A fine William IV period mahogany stick barometer, the bow-fronted case with carved reeded top and cistern cover
with Lotus leaf terminal.
Literature
The second of three sons of the renowned instrument maker, Alexander Adie of Edinburgh Richard Adie set up the Company’s Liverpool branch in Bold St at the age of 25, specialising in barometers. On the death of brother John in 1857, he ran both the Edinburgh and Liverpool branches until his death in 1881.
Condition
Excellent condition, very good colour and patination.
