This exceptional box is finely and profusely inlaid. The central panel to the lid depicts
Eridge Castle Sussex near Tunbridge Wells. The seat of the Earl of Abergavenny, and is flanked by yew-wood panels and bordered by tessellated mosaic inlay. The canted border and sides have parquetry inlay with a wider band around the central body. The lid within also profusely inlaid, as are the lids of the removable tea boxes which flank a glass bowl. Stands upon low bun feet.

Note: minor repairs to lid of one of the tea boxes within.
