Description / Expertise
A pair of George III period carved giltwood armchairs in the Louis XVI manner, each with a rectangular back above a square moulded and beaded down-curved arms, stuff over seats flanked by leaf-carved and fluted square arm supports, on turned fluted tapering legs headed by paterae.
Provenance
Wormsley Park, Oxfordshire, formerly in the drawing room.
Literature
The armchairs are closely related to another set of four armchairs of almost identical design and illustrated in the Sotheby's Easton Neston sale in Nothamptonshire, May 2005, volume II, page 166.
Condition
Very fine condition, re-gilt. Upholstered in pale green silk.
