A PAIR OF LOANGA TRIBE CARVED IVORY TUSKS
Congo Region, Africa
Circa 1900.
The pair of tusks carved with figures shown climbing palm trees and harvesting, with elephants below with their trunks wrapped around the trees, and large birds in flight to the tips of the tusks.
The ivory in good condition, of even grain and of good cream colour.
The tusks now mounted on optional metal stands.
Measurements: 27 ½” (70cm & 67cm) Long 2 ½” (6.5cm) Diameter at widest point
