Description / Expertise
A very fine William and Mary red japanned slope bureau, the fall front is finely decorated with a ceremonial chariot pulled by lions, the lion motif is repeated on the top, the fall opens to reveal a well which slides to reveal a secret compartment; the upper section is supported by three drawers of increasing size, each decorated with further chinoiserie.
Condition
The bun feet replaced. The lacquer decoration refreshed.
