A Very Fine Pair of Ormolu Mounted Green Stained Horn Clock and Barometer, in the Louis XV Style. Each of banjo form. The clock with the circular glazed enamel clock dial with both Roman and Arabic chapters, and signed 'CAUSARD H. DU ROY / SUIV. LA COUR' . The barometer with a dial signed 'A.Goubert A.PARIS / PAR DES MOIENS PRECIS J'INDIQUE A TOUS LES YEUX / LES MOINDRES MOUVREMENTS QUI SE FONT SOUS LES CIEUX'. Each one is surmounted by a two part enamelled temperature scale within a foliate border, the case with C-scrolled and foliate edges surmounted by a cartouche and pierced C-scroll finial, the lower section with and hunting trophy mount above a fruiting foliate finial.

The Currie Collection was formed by Bertram Currie between 1877-1890. Divided between his four houses, Minley Manor, Coombe Warren, Bertram Wodehouse and Number 1 Richmond Terrace - where Gladstone resided following the fall of his second administration - this eclectic collection embraced everything from Dresden porcelain, English portraits and clocks, and Italian old masters, to the French Decorative Arts of the eighteenth century. Bought at such great sales as Hamilton Place in 1882 and Blenheim Palace in 1886, as the privately printed 1909 catalogues of Coombe Warren and Richmond Terrace reveal, Currie's taste ranged from Louis XIV and Louis XVI 'buhl' to Louis XV ormolu-mounted porcelain and bronzes d'ameublement.
