Branded G.J. MORANT NEW BOND ST.
Provenance
Supplied to M.P.W. Boulton, Tew Park, Oxfordshire and by descent to
Major Eustace Robb, Tew Park, sold
Christie’s house sale, 27-29 May 1987, lot 163.
Tew Park was extensively furnished by the great Regency cabinet-maker George Bullock in 1815. When the house was enlarged 30 years later the royal cabinet-maker George Morant supplied furniture to accord with the Bullock pieces. The inlay of these bookcases exactly follows that on the suite of bookcases, also in holly and oak, supplied by Bullock for the library.
